HERITAGE
Born on the flight line. Six decades of military-issue silhouettes, built to the original spec.
Born on the flight line. Six decades of military-issue silhouettes, built to the original spec.
Alpha Industries began as a defense contractor in Knoxville, Tennessee, sewing flight jackets for the U.S. military. Every Heritage piece is cut to the original government specification — same fits, same hardware, same intent.
The original jet-age flight jacket. Reversible rescue-orange lining, wind flap, utility pocket — every detail on today's MA-1 traces straight back to Alpha's 1957 military contract.
Issued from 1965 onward, the M-65 defined the field jacket: concealed hood, epaulettes, four-pocket front. From service issue to counter-culture uniform, it has never left rotation.
Developed to replace the MA-1, the CWU 45/P brought flame-resistant nylon and a two-pocket chest layout to the flight line. Alpha has produced it for the U.S. military since the 1980s — this is the same jacket, made for the street.
Surplus stores put military jackets in civilian hands; subculture did the rest. Punks, mods, hip-hop, skate and high fashion each claimed the MA-1 in turn — the silhouette never changed, only who was wearing it.
Alpha Industries Heritage jackets are made to the original military specifications that made them famous — the MA-1 bomber jacket, CWU 45/P flight jacket, M-65 field jacket, N-3B and N-2B parkas, and ALS/92 liner. Each piece carries the government-spec details collectors look for, produced by the contractor that made the originals.
