Honoring Those on the Front Lines

May is Military Appreciation Month, designated to honor all those who serve or have served in our Armed Forces. This year, we are especially grateful for all members of our military who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been a vital partner in the fight against COVID-19. Working with state and local governments, they have provided assessments on thousands of possible locations for alternate- care facilities.  For the dozens of sites that have passed the assessment phase, the USACE has designed and constructed temporary medical facilities across the country, turning convention centers and warehouses into  domestic field hospitals. These alternate- care facilities are providing relief in areas where hospitals are overflowing with patients.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Navy deployed two medical ships to two of the nation's largest cities. Arriving in New York and Los Angeles, the USS Comfort and USS Mercy were designated to assist local health care providers by offering care to persons who do not have the virus, freeing local hospitals and clinics to treat COVID-19 patients.

Across the country, over 44,000 U.S. Army National Guard members have been activated in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. National Guard soldiers in every state are supporting community testing sites, supporting the distribution and transport and supplies, and providing manpower at medical and emergency response centers.

As a special THANK YOU, all active duty, reserve, and veteran members of our Armed Forces are eligible to receive 30% off on during the month of May.
