The Alpha Industries Spring/Summer 2019 collection was created with a particular focus on shifting and often unpredictable weather patterns. The design strategy is a nod back to Operation Popeye, a US military effort to artificially extend Vietnam’s monsoon season during the war. This collection features weather resistant pieces built to withstand everything from spring showers to robust winds.
Fishtail styles date back to the ‘50s and enable the wearer to tie each half of the split around each leg, thus further trapping heat. Alpha’s take on this widely-recognized feature includes this season’s wind resistant and waterproof Deluge Rainstop Fishtail, available for both men and women, as evidence of the fishtail’s enduring utility. We also have a Shell Fishtail Parka, available for both men and women, that’s water resistant and provides a looser fit and oversized hood, allowing comfort long after the rains die down.
A blend of two classic styles can be found in the Duster WP Field Coat, which combines the simple look of the field coat with a thigh-length, rain jacket silhouette. In this collection, the field coat, which has long been a staple in military outerwear, gets a fully weather-proof update, with a drawstring hood and a wind resistant snap-down placket.
Standout pieces also include this season’s ECWCS line, which features military specs that date back to a protective clothing line developed for cold weather conditions in the ‘80s. The incorporates these protective features into a visually striking design: an all-over reflective raindrop print that’s both modern and eye-catching. The ECWCS Torrent Raindrop is also reflective, and with its roomy, standard-fit silhouette, it can be easily layered and shed in order to adapt quickly to weather changes.
With weather and versatility at the forefront of our 2019 designs, we’ve reimagined our most functional and enduring jackets and produced an outerwear collection for the modern age.
