HOW TO WEAR A MA-1 BOMBER WITH CORY LUCKETT

The MA-1 bomber jacket has become a staple garment in the modern wardrobe. Functional, versatile and stylish, the bomber jacket is easily dressed up or down for any occasion. Men’s bomber jackets, women’s bomber jackets, and even kids bomber jackets can be found in a variety of colors and styles at countless retailers. However, Alpha Industries is one of the original makers of the MA-1 bomber jacket, and still makes the MA-1 to its original military specifications outlined by the U.S. Department of Defense.

There are many ways to wear a bomber jacket, from dressed down with a pair of sweats to dressed up over a shirt and tie. We’ve teamed up with local D.C. blogger Cory Luckett to style the classic Alpha Industries bomber jacket three different ways.

Cory Luckett Washington, DC based men’s style blogger and influencer and dad of 2. Cory began blogging to share with the world insights on what to wear, and how to wear it. Launched in 2014, ‘The Fashionable Man’ was created to inspire all people to become their best Fashionable self. Cory has created a platform where people can stop by for stylish outfit ideas, or feel empowered to try a new look -- all while discovering some great brands. Providing helpful style tips and outfit concepts, the audience always walks away feeling confident in their outfit, and educated in their style.

For the first look, Cory shows how versatile bomber jackets can be by wearing it on the reverse side, dressed up with a pair of plaid trousers.  Alpha Industries MA-1 Bomber Jackets are reversible to an orange lining. Why do bombers reverse to an orange lining? Originally designed for Navy and Air Force pilots, the orange lining of the MA-1 bomber jacket was intended to assist in flagging down rescuers if pilots were downed or otherwise in distress. This life-saving detail is carried over to today’s modern design.

Cory: This is a NYFW 2019 outfit of the day. The orange pop of the jacket draws in the subtle orange accents of the rest of the look, all the way down to the Nike x Off-White Blazers. This orange jacket is actually the reverse side of a green MA-1 Alpha Industries jacket. Perfect for that pop of bold color!

This second look shows a simple way to style the . Bomber jackets were originally made in Sage, Black, and Replica Blue for the Air Force and Navy, but are now available in a variety of colors from maroon to hot pink.

Cory: This is a super simple and casual vibe. The green bomber jacket with just a plain white T. I wanted the jacket to speak for itself so I went simple with the white monochromatic sneakers and pants. The pop of orange in the inside of the coat really brings everything to life.

In this final look, Cory shows how to style the maroon bomber jacket for a day out and about. Bomber jackets are a great layering piece, perfect for adding over a hoodie or tee.

Cory: Probably the most underrated color of a jacket, I absolutely LOVE wearing maroon. Everyone is used to seeing the Green MA-1 bomber jacket, but when you add some color, like this Maroon, it really adds so much more dimension with any outfit.
