Physical fitness is not only good for everyone’s health — it’s a requirement for members of all branches of the military. Upon graduating from boot camp and at regular intervals, service men and women are tested on their physical skill, strength, and endurance. To pass this test and maintain the level of fitness required to serve, rigorous physical training (PT) is a must.
Each branch has its own PT uniform, varying in color schemes such as black, olive-drab, blue, and gold. The US Army’s training uniform used to include a now iconic gray shirt with black letters spelling out “ARMY,” which once inspired a collection from Forever21. After an upgrade in October 2017, the uniform is now predominantly black with gold details and lettering.
