On July 29, 1958, President Dwight Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act (NASA) into law – and officially kicked off the Space Age. It’s safe to say that over the past five decades, NASA has radically altered the way we see our place in the cosmos, from walks on the moon and the International Space Station to more recent adventures like the New Horizon spacecraft’s close encounter with Pluto and last week’s discovery of Kepler-452b, a habitable cousin to Earth.
A timeless sense of style isn’t part of NASA’s overall mission, but the organization has always managed to look extremely cool while making “one giant leap for mankind” after another. While you might not be rocketing to the moon anytime soon, you can definitely sport some of that iconic “Right Stuff” thanks to Alpha’s NASA-inspired outerwear and accessories.
Let’s not beat around the bush: Astronauts are real American heroes. You can channel your inner Buzz Aldrin in Alpha’s Astronaut flight suits (available in both youth and adult sizes). These painstakingly re-created one-pieces are ready for blastoff, with the Stars and Stripes on the left sleeve and two authentic NASA patches on the chest – one of which pays tribute to the classic Space Shuttle Program, which sent dozens of astronauts into orbit between 1981 and 2011. Alpha’s flight suits are the real deal – we’re pretty sure even Neil Armstrong couldn’t tell the difference.
NASA Flight Jackets
Alpha is renowned for its killer flight jackets, and they’re given an interstellar twist with the Alpha NASA collection, including the NASA MA-1, the NASA L-2B and the NASA Shuttle flight jackets. The Apollo MA-1 is especially noteworthy, with its dynamic, “the-eagle-has-landed” Apollo 11 mission patch on the front, commemorating the legendary first lunar landing on July 20, 1969. On the back, check out the retro-futurist assortment of other Apollo mission patches, all celebrating the legacy of the NASA’s fearless outer space explorations.
Here’s to 57 more years of boldly going where no man has gone before.
