Month of the Military Child

From deployments, new homes, schools, and making new friends, military children face unique challenges that many people their age never experience. In an effort to recognize the important contribution and sacrifice that military children make towards our Armed Forces, the Department of Defense designated April as the Month of the Military Child in 1986. April marks a time to give special consideration to the children of active and reserve military. There are approximately 4 million children of members of the Armed Forces. On average, children of members of the Armed Forces will move once every 1-3 years, attend 6-9 different schools from grades kindergarten through twelfth, and will be impacted by numerous deployments for their parent(s). Take this month as an opportunity to give special consideration and thanks to any military children that you know, or that are in your local community.
