Today starts Armed Forces Week which culminates in Armed Forces Day on May 21. It is a time to pay tribute to those Americans in uniform who are actively serving their country whether in times of war or peace. It recognizes those who are in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard. The day was created in 1949 by the Secretary of Defense when all the branches of the military were brought under one government department. It was first celebrated in 1950. We at Alpha would like to thank the members of all the branches of the U. S. Armed Forces for their service and sacrifice.
