From deployments, new homes, schools, and making new friends, military children face unique challenges that many people their age never experience. In an effort to recognize the important contribution and sacrifice that military children make towards our Armed Forces, the Department of Defense designated April as the Month of the Military Child in 1986. April marks a time to give special consideration to the children of active and reserve military. There are approximately 1.7 million children of members of the Armed Forces. On average, children of members of the Armed Forces will move once every 1-3 years, attend 6-9 different schools from grades kindergarten through twelfth, and will be impacted by numerous deployments for their parent(s). Take this month as an opportunity to give special consideration and thanks to any military children that you know, or that are in your local community.

During the month of April, a portion of the proceeds from the sales of all  kids' jackets on AlphaIndustries.com will benefit Our Military Kids. This philanthropy provides grants to the children of active and wounded military members. These grants allow the children to participate in extracurricular activities that they may otherwise not have the opportunity to.
